Like our motto “Singing Great Music in Great Places”, the Concordia Youth Chorale specializes in providing unusual performance opportunities for our singers. The Chorale has performed five times at Carnegie Hall, including two performances of John Rutter’s Mass of the Children with the composer conducting, and five times at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City.
Our big current news is that the Chorale has been invited to sing at the opening night of the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall on November 10 th this year.
Touring : the Chorale toured England in 2003 and Italy in 2005, with performances in Canterbury Cathedral, St. Mark's in Venice, and St. Peter's in Rome. In the summer of 2007, the Chorale toured Bavaria, Austria, and the Czech Republic. In July 2010, we toured Montreal and Quebec City, and undertook a major tour of Northern France in July 2011. We returned to England in 2013, added Ireland to our successes in 2015 and we returned to Canada in June 2017. Future tours include a cruise to Bermuda with performances in Bermuda Cathedral and St. Peter’s.
The Chorale has also sung at the Washington National Cathedral and twice in Colonial Williamsburg. In January 2010, the Chorale sang at Avery Fisher Hall in a performance of Jenkins' Requiem and in April 2010, the Chorale sang at St. Paul's Chapel next to Ground Zero in New York City. We returned to St. Paul's Chapel in November 2014. In the fall of 2013, the Chorale sang at Gettysburg for the 150th anniversary of the battle there, and at the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.
